Mark Haak

Mark knows that creativity has enormous power for change and that strategic design can move people and get results. He takes the time to understand your audience and knows how to connect, inspire and motivate them to action. Mark has been leading design since helping create the first website for the Toronto Star in 1993 and was one of the founding partners of Swerve Design Group in 1999. He started Design for Good in 2007 as a way to take all his expertise and share it with Nonprofits.

When you work with Mark, he takes the time to get to know you, your goals, and your dreams. He walks you through a collaborative process – exploring options, creating solutions and presenting strategies that reflect your unique voice and energy. And he makes everything easy to understand and easy to use so you can focus on what you do best – serving your cause and communicating to your supporters.

Beyond design, Mark has first-hand experience creating his own Nonprofit projects. He has traveled to Ethiopia, Jamaica and Uganda to build schools, participate in clean water projects, and be involved in job creation programs. When he’s not designing, Mark can usually be found paddling outback in Algonquin with his kids or growing organic food on his farm.

Kelly Shelton

Kelly is a purist with a keen eye and attention to detail. She worked in various roles, from Production Artist to Art Director, at several big downtown studios to perfect her craft, which she now applies at Design for Good.

Her passion is the life force behind much of what we do and always keeps us grounded and on track with our eco goals. She is the first to challenge the norm and provide creative alternatives that almost seem too obvious because they work so well.

Not only that, Kelly also ran our African fundraiser – she helped start an online store selling recycled paper necklaces made by HIV positive women in Uganda. Kelly managed the day-to-day operations taking orders and shipping them around the world and helped raise over $67,000US and as a result built 10 water projects that provide clean water to thousands of people.

She is both a teacher and a student. Kelly loves to research and learn and inspire others through her teaching. Kelly leads a very natural life and mixes her time with home-schooling, growing food in the gardens and yoga.

We work with some of the most talented and innovative designers, fundraisers, copywriters, programmers and other creative’s who share our beliefs. Here are some of the amazing collaborators who might be part of your project.

Good design has the power to create change. We commit our web design and graphic design talent to helping those who help others.

We are thrilled to be recognized for our work and featured on the cover of the Green Design issue of Graphic Design USA magazine! What makes us so “Green”? Read about our sustainability practices. And thanks to our mascot Chicken Moe for taking center stage… we’ve framed a copy and hung it in the chicken coop!

Enough about us, how can we help you?
